EXCLUSIVE: Wolves monitoring contract situation of Bournemouth star with Gary O’Neil keen on reuniting with player at Molineux

Wolves are interested in making a move to sign Bournemouth star Lewis Cook, sources have told Football Insider. The 27-year-old has just over a year left on his contract with the Cherries, with his current deal set to expire in June 2025. 

Bournemouth are hoping to agree an extension with the Cook this summer following his impressive development since Andoni Iraola arrived on the south coast.

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil is a big fan of the midfielder after previously working with him during his time at the Vitality Stadium.

Wolves could take advantage of Lewis Cook contract situation. Bournemouth will be keen to ensure Cook remains with the club beyond this summer following his impressive form this season.

It’s been arguably the midfielder’s most consistent campaign since arriving at the Vitality from Leeds United in 2016, having started in 29 of his 30 appearances in the Premier League.

The one-cap England international is averaging 1.9 tackles, two interceptions and 1.4 key passes for the Cherries this season.

It’s those all-action displays that have likely caught the eye of his former manager O’Neil, who could be looking to land Cook on a cut-price deal this summer due to his contract situation.

Bournemouth will be hoping his consistent minutes in the side under Iraola will be enough to tempt him into signing a new deal to remain at the Vitality. The Cherries have made solid progress this season after recently moving into the top half of the Premier League table and will be looking to continue pushing forward with Cook in the heart of their midfield.
