EXCLUSIVE: Leicester City make first contact with PSG over loan signing of highly rated 18year old midfielder as Enzo Maresca looks to revamp midfield after Tielemans and Mendy’s departure
Leicester City are vying for young PSG midfielder Ayman Kari, according to reports in France.
City are to undergo a revamp of their squad this summer, especially in midfield. Youri Tielemans and Papy Mendy have already left on free transfers, while Wilfred Ndidi, Dennis Praet, and James Maddison could all be sold.
With that rebuild in mind, City have now been linked with an up-and-coming French youth international. Deep-lying playmaker Kari only made his first senior appearance at the end of April, but has caught the eye.
RMC Sport in France say that City have made their first approach to PSG over the 18-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Lorient. He only made five appearances, including in a win over PSG, but they want him back and are said to have a loan deal with an option to buy in place.
However, Kari is still to make up his mind, and if he wants a move to England, City could be ready to pounce.
Big things are expected of Kari, who is a France Under-19 international and a former winner of the Titi d’Or, awarded to the most promising player in PSG’s academy. Kingsley Coman, Odsonne Edouard, and Moussa Diaby are among the other previous winners.
City’s midfield will require the most attention this summer for new manager Enzo Maresca. As things stand, only Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Hamza Choudhury are very likely to stay, although there is a possibility that Boubakary Soumare also sticks around. They have been linked to Fulham’s Tom Cairney, QPR’s Ilias Chair, and Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Ao Tanaka.
Should City be targeting untested youngsters or experienced campaigners in the transfer market?
