EXCLUSIVE: Crystal Palace open formal talks with Genk to sign £10m-rated South American full-back with 7 goals already this season as Roy Hodgson looks to bolster defensive options in January
Crystal Palace have asked about Genk full-back and Colombia international Daniel Munoz as Roy Hodgson looks to bolster his defensive options in January. The Belgian club value the 27-year-old at approximately £10million, a fee which is unlikely to deter the Eagles.
Munoz is under contract with Genk until the end of the season, with an option for a further 12 months. The right-back joined Genk from Colombia’s Atletico Nacional four years ago for a modest fee of £4m and has gone to make 147 appearances for the Jupiter Pro League club.
Munoz has scored seven goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season
The Colombian has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. Since making his international debut back in 2020, Munoz has established himself as key player for Colombia, making 23 appearances for Los Cafeteros.
Of the teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table, only Everton have conceded fewer goals than Palace’s 29 so far this season.
The Eagles, however, have struggled at the other end of the pitch and have the third-worst goalscoring record in the division.
Palace return from their winter break on Wednesday, when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in the FA Cup third round replay before taking on Arsenal at the Emirates on January 20.
