EXCLUSIVE: Leeds now set to complete double signing this week as Whites agree deal to sign striker and midfielder
Leeds are set to complete the double signing of Swansea Joel Pirol and Nadiem Amiri this week.
As reported by Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri has agreed to join Leeds United.
As previously understood, Leeds were willing to match Leverkusen’s valuation for Amiri and thereby see off competition from Marseille for the 26-year-old’s signature. Despite this, Amiri had looked set to turn down a move to the Championship with his heart set on signing for the French club.
Nevertheless, after Marseille failed to agree on a suitable price with Die Werkself, Amiri has elected to join Leeds for a fee of €5m – €6m with add-ons. In a sudden change of heart, due to Daniel Farke’s admiration for the midfielder, the five-time German international looks set to sign a four-year deal at Elland Road.
Last season, Amiri featured 36 times for Xabi Alonso’s side – predominantly from central midfield – scoring four goals and collecting two assists.
The Whites have also reached an agreement to sign Swansea striker Joel Piroe.
Fabrizio Romano revealed that the centre-forward is expected to put pen to paper on the necessary paperwork to fully finalise the move by the end of the week.
In the Championship last season, Piroe racked up an impressive 21 goal contributions (19 goals and two assists) in 43 appearances, form which saw him receive five man-of-the-match awards, but the striker also posed a constant threat even when he didn’t hit the back of the net.
Barring any last minute change, both deals are projected to be completed by the end of the week and will be a huge boost as Daniel Farke side face a mammoth challenge of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
