Confirmed: Renowed Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms Leeds defender is now close to Elland Road exit with talks now in advanced stages, player has agreed on personal terms

Fabrizio Romano has issued a transfer update on Diego Llorente as the Leeds United defender appears set for an Elland Road exit.

The Sky Sports journalist claims that the deal for him to join Roma is now at its final stages and he has agreed personal terms to move to the Italian club.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Jose Mourinho’s side and he’s now interested on signing him permanently.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “AS Roma are closing in on deal to sign Diego Llorente from Leeds as talks are moving to final stages, personal terms agreed.”

Not too many fans will be upset that the Spain international is leaving the club for good as he failed to make a mark when given the chance.

There were lots of hopes from him when Marcelo Bielsa brought him through the door but unfortunately he did not live up to them.

It remains to be seen how much Leeds ended up getting for his services as negotiations have been ongoing for a while now.

Roma did not want to pay what was the pre-determined price which is what led to this transfer saga and now it seems to be coming to an end.

Mourinho will be a happy man as Llorente did well for him in the second half of the season and played a key role in guiding them to the Europa League final.

Hopefully, Leeds can reinvest the money well as they do need to make a few good signings to ensure they’re in a good position to seal promotion.
