Exclusive: Sky Sports confirm West Ham are preparing to make formal approach to sign English Midfielder who was named 2022/2023 EFL Young player of the season

West Ham are pondering whether to make a formal approach for in-demand Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, according to Sky Sports News.

The 19-year-old won the Championship’s Young Player of the Season last term and is expected to earn a Premier League opportunity this summer.

Among the clubs interested are the Hammers, who have both Scott and Fulham star Joao Palhinha (Daily Mirror) on their summer transfer wish list.

Sky Sports reported: “West Ham are interested in Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott and are deciding whether to formally approach the Championship club.

“The 19-year-old has two years left on his contract.”

Great Scott! Alex would be a great signing for Moyes

West Ham are headed for Europe again next season thanks to their famous triumph in the Europa Conference League, secured with a late, late 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the final earlier this month.

Next term promises to be even more difficult with that victory earning a place in the more prestigious Europa League, meaning West Ham will once again combine Thursday night European ventures with Premier League football.

Crucially, though, their spot in Europe means they can offer something that many of their rivals in the top flight cannot offer and this is an advantage that they can exploit in the market.

Alex Scott is one such player where those European chips can be cashed. The teenager has bags of potential and if he carries on this trajectory will likely to play for England before long.

A move to West Ham would represent a sensible move and provide him with ample opportunities for first-team football, especially given the need to rotate again next term.

It would be a superb move for both West Ham and Scott.
