You’ve got to give him a little bit of time, but questions will be asked if their position doesn’t change by the next international break” – Paul Robinson claims Daniel Farke has to start winning games or face pressure at Leeds

Questions will be asked of Daniel Farke unless he can get Leeds United back to winning ways before the next international break, according to Paul Robinson.

The Whites find themselves 15th in the Championship after the first break of the season, below expectations of a recently relegated side. However, with Farke’s late appointment, a significant change in the personnel of the squad, an overlooked injury list and a change in ownership, fans have remained patient and their current position is “understandable”.

Farke has faced tough fixtures in the Championship’s opening weeks, including West Brom and Ipswich Town, but with just one win so far and an early League Cup exit, the goalposts will soon shift for the German.

Robinson claims that they will be moved within a month, suggesting that while “you can reason” with their current position, questions will “absolutely” be asked of Farke if he can’t see Leeds climb the table significantly before the next international break on 12 October.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “The performance against Ipswich, I think, was the one shining light of the season so far.

“That was when ex-players, pundits and supporters, you look at it and see the manager’s got something out of the team.

“But then you look at the start, you’ve got to give him a little bit of time because he came in very, very late towards the start of the season.

“One of the big things that is not quite talked about quite often is the injury list, I think there were six that could have potentially started last weekend against Sheffield Wednesday.

“Two long-term in Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper, you’ve got Patrick Bamford who’s in there, Dan James who’s played a part this season. It’s been a tough start.

“There’s reasons why they’re 15th and they’ve only picked up six points and you can make excuses for that, but you can only make excuses for so long.

“You have to score goals and win football matches and yes, it’s, a different, pressure that Daniel Farke has got at Leeds. There’s an expectation to win and they have to get out of the Championship.

“You look at their wage budget, the structure of the club, the new ownership – the long-term future for this club isn’t to be in the Championship or isn’t to be a mid-table steady Championship side pushing for promotion each year.

“15th at the moment is understandable, is rational. You can reason as to why they are. But if it continues, if we get to the next international break and they’re still 15th, there’s going to be questions asked absolutely again.

“Now is definitely the time to kick on. No more incoming, no more ongoings.”
