“Yes, Aston Villa have been following the player many times”- Fabrizio Romano confirms Villa’s interest in signing Brazilian winger this month despite competition as Unai Emery looks to bolster attack

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Aston Villa’s interest in signing Lazio winger Felipe Anderson this month.

The former West Ham attacker has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Unai Emery’s side, with Anderson’s contract with Lazio due to expire at the end of this season.

Lauded by pundit Adrian Clarke as an ‘explosive’ forward, Anderson has been in impressive form for Lazio this season, with the Rome-based club impressing in the UEFA Champions League.

Yet according to Romano via GiveMeSport, Anderson’s signing would be a difficult move in January, with Villa yet to make a concrete move to sign the 30-year-old attacker this month.

The Italian transfer guru said when asked about Anderson’s future and Villa’s interest in the winger: “From what I’m hearing, Juventus are interested in Anderson.

“So, I think Juventus will be in the mix to sign him as a free agent. For Aston Villa, yes, they have been following the player many times, but I’m not aware of any concrete negotiations yet.”

Anderson is back to his best this season at Lazio, with the winger finally shaking off the torrid form that the Brazilian endured during his troubled spell at West Ham.

A return to the Premier League might be tempting for the South American winger. Moreover, he could fancy a move to a new look Villa side who are now Premier League title hopefuls.

Indeed, Emery has worked magic at Villa Park in the last 18 months, the Birmingham-based having moved from relegation contenders to title contenders in the space of just over a year.
