Transfer Report: Nottingham Forest linked with move for Former Liverpool and Brazilian attacker this January

Nottingham Forest are now interested in signing Roberto Firmino, with the player unhappy in Saudi Arabia and keen to leave Al-Ahli. That is according to reputable Spanish media house AS.

Nuno Espirito Santo would desperately like to add to his squad this month as he looks to stamp his own authority at the City Ground.

According to AS, Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs interested in signing Firmino as he looks to try and leave Saudi Arabia this month.

It’s claimed that the player has grown disgruntled with boss Matthias Jaissle who has now started his as a substitute in the last eight games. Firmino’s only three goals this season came on the opening day of the season. Now, he’s keen to head back to Europe to continue his career.

Brazilian duo Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro are keen and the report says that Forest would be the most interested Premier League outfit.

Given his reputation in England, Forest fans will be familiar with Firmino.

The 32-year-old signed for Liverpool from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim and enjoyed a memorable time with the Anfield giants.

He won the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool; scoring 111 goals and claiming 79 assists from 362 appearances for the club. In 2020, Jurgen Klopp called Firmino ‘world-class’ and earlier this week he was back in England to watch Liverpool against Newcastle (Goal).

Firmino has also made an impact on the international stage; scoring 17 goals in 55 appearances for Brazil.

Rumour rating – 5/10 – In our view, we just can’t see Forest pulling this one off this month.

Firmino earns a staggering £330,000-a-week in Saudi Arabia and it’s hard to imagine him taking a significant pay cut to join Forest.

Still, if a deal could be struck in terms of a respectable salary, Firmino would have a lot to offer the Forest squad, given his Liverpool exploits.

Nevertheless, this is Forest we’re talking about and anything could happen this month.
