“To stay in the league, they have to get results there, you need to get six points there”-PL pundit picks two fixtures that Nottingham Forest must win inorder to avoid relegation
Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has advised Nottingham Forest on which two games they simply have to win. He was on punditry duties as the Reds were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on Sunday at the City Ground.
Forest are staring down the barrel of an instant return to the Championship. The Reds are now 10 games without tasting the sweetness of victory and another blip has come at the wrong time.
The Reds must get their skates on when it comes to picking up victories. Steve Cooper’s team now have just seven games remaining and they can’t afford too many more disappointments.
Hasselbaink believes there are two fixtures on the horizon that Forest have to seriously target. He thinks that maximum points are a must from those two fixtures if they’re to have any chance.
He told Sky Sports: “After today, how they played, I think it’s going to be very hard. I believe they need three more wins for them to have a chance.
“They have to play the big teams, they have to get something out of the bag. To stay in the league, they have to go somewhere and get a result.
“The Brentford game, the Southampton game, they’re going to be ever so important. You need to get six points there.”
The man who used to coach Forest when Steve McClaren was at the club has a point. Those two games are vital but the Reds would be wise not to count their chickens at Brentford.
They’ve been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League campaign and will want to finish as high as possible. Furthermore, Thomas Frank might have his eye on claiming a bigger job in the summer and will be keen to keep impressing.
Forest have three home games left. They face Brighton shortly after the Liverpool trip, before playing Southampton and Arsenal on Trentside. Right now, you’d say Forest need to win all three of those games.
With each passing defeat, the survival chances dwindle. The Reds have to start picking up points once again otherwise they will find themselves cut adrift in the relegation zone.
