“The money they paid for him, it’s an absolute bargain”- Robbie Savage says Leeds star has been one of the best signings last summer as he hails player’s impact in Daniel Farke team
Former Wales international Robbie Savage has hailed Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu as one of the signings of the season following the versatile midfielder’s summer switch. Ampadu joined Daniel Farke’s side from Chelsea, following three successive relegations out on loan at Sheffield United and Italian sides Venezia and Spezia.
The midfielder has played every minute for Leeds United following his move from Chelsea.
Apart from individual flashes of brilliance from the likes of Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, the Welsh star’s consistent performances have seen him collect the man of the match accolade game after game, with the Whites currently sat third in the Championship table.
As the Elland Road outfit continue their pursuit of runaway leaders Leicester City and surprise package Ipswich Town, Savage believes his compatriot Ampadu could be the difference as Leeds look to bounce back to the Premier League.
“I am a huge fan of his,” the former midfielder told TEAMtalk. “He’s been out on loan a few times but now he’s got his permanent move to Leeds, and I think for the money they paid – and £7m is the figure suggested – it’s an absolute bargain for Leeds United, one of the signings of the season.
“The way Daniel Farke wants to play is perfect to get the best out of him. I know he plays in that defensive midfield role with the likes of Glen Kamara and Archie Gray to compliment him, so the dynamic of that midfield drives them forward.
Capable of slotting into the defence, the Exeter-born midfielder has played every single minute for the Whites in both league and cup this term, most recently starring in the stunning 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
