Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Wolves at the City Ground and the Reds go into the first international break unbeaten from three games.
Unlike the Bournemouth game, however, Forest didn’t really do enough to win the game of football and Wolves deserved their point. Forest will have to quickly move on from yesterday’s game but there were definitely some positives from the performance.
After playing a peripheral part in the first game of the season against Bournemouth, Elliot Anderson has started both of the other Premier League games. The man signed for £35 million from Newcastle partnered Ibrahim Sangare at the heart of the midfield and once again showed promise.
After the game, Danny Murphy heaped praise on the 21-year-old who once again shone for the Reds against Wolves.
He told Match of the Day: “I like him a lot. I liked him the times I saw him in a Newcastle shirt. They paid £35 million for him. He is all-action. He has a bit of everything. He loves to defend, he gets his foot in, he does his work, great on set plays, took free-kicks as well, great runs into the box, has got nice feet. Just a dynamic performance. He had a really good game and Say all you want about the price tag but he looks like a really good signing.”
The Reds got a really good deal with the signing of Anderson and although the price tag looked quite excessive, the sale of Odysseas Vlachodimos in the other direction did cut the outlay somewhat.
Anderson is only 21 and that means that he has bags of potential and Forest did get a really good deal when it comes to the addition of a player who will only improve. Nuno Espirito Santo has given Anderson the chance to stake his claim for a place and right now, the shirt does look to be his in the middle of the engine room.
