West Ham United’s Angelo Ogbonna had limited game time last season, as he featured 30 times, which included only 13 league starts.

The centre-back’s deal expires at the end of this month and has attracted interest from elsewhere. The details of these clubs aren’t mentioned. Despite this, the Hammers want to keep him at the club.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who state West Ham are ‘trying to renew’ the 35-year-old’s contract.

It’s said the ‘contacts are in progress’ between the two parties to tie the former Juventus man to a new deal. TMW doesn’t specify the details of the deal [especially duration] David Moyes’ side are willing to offer the Italian.

Ogbonna came off the bench against Fiorentina in in the Europa Conference League final on June 7th. A few days prior to the European clash, the defender told Gazzetta dello Sport that he wishes to continue at West Ham next season.

This should help Moyes’ side in their ongoing efforts to tie the player down to a new deal.
