REPORT: USA striker keen to secure transfer move to Elland Road this summer following interest from Leeds as player wants Daniel Farke reunion
Norwich City striker Josh Sargent is keen to complete a reunion with Daniel Farke at Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (18 August) that the Whites are considering a late-window swoop for the Canaries star.
And though the Norfolk side are reluctant to lose Sargent, it is believed it would not take a huge fee to land the forward. Leeds have drawn up a striker shortlist with Patrick Bamford still injured and last season’s top scorer Rodrigo Moreno leaving for Qatar.
Farke, who was appointed at Elland Road earlier this summer, is well-versed in Sargent’s talents after their time together at Norwich.
The German was the manager to bring him to England, paying Werder Bremen a reported £8million for his services in August 2021.
Sargent is already off the mark for the 2023-24 campaign after scoring in Norwich’s 4-4 away draw at Southampton last week (12 August).
He also managed 13 goals and two assists in 40 league games last season, but the Canaries struggled to impose themselves on the promotion race.
The United States international has proved a versatile option for club and country – leading the line as well as playing on both flanks regularly. Sargent is under contract at Norwich until June 2025.
Leeds have picked up just two points from their opening three Championship games after relegation from the Premier League last season.
The Whites face table-topping Ipswich Town next week (26 August).
