REPORT: Nottingham Forest submit €10m bid to sign 2022 World Cup winning defensive midfielder
According to reports in Spain, Nottingham Forest have made a bid for the 29-year-old Real Betis defensive midfielder. The offer was said to be under €10 million, with the La Liga outfit demanding around €12 million – at least.
Steve Cooper already has a big squad at his disposal at the City Ground, but he is clearly keen to bolster his defensive midfield ranks further still this summer.
And a summer transfer window move to sign a player from La Liga appears to be in the pipeline for Forest… ABC Sevilla are claiming that Cooper is trying to bring the South American to the East Midlands from Spain this summer.
Described as ‘exceptional defensively’ and a ‘superb reader of the game’, Rodriguez has been a really consistent performer for Betis over the past few years.
He is a tenacious tackler and absolutely relishes the physical battle. On face vale, he seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature and intense speed of Premier League football.
In 34 La Liga outings for Betis last season, he averaged 3.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and two clearances per game. The Argentinian is a great passer of the football as well. Last season he averaged 49.1 passes per match and recorded a mightily impressive completion rate of 87.4%.
Guido Rodriguez would be a superb addition for Nottingham Forest. However, whether the Premier League side are prepared to up their offer for the 29-year-old midfielder remains to be seen.
