Report: Leeds star now set to make U-turn on future with player now planning to stay at Elland Road next season on one condition

Cody Drameh is reportedly open to staying at Leeds United for the 2023/24 campaign in the Championship on one specific condition.

According to LeedsLive, the club will welcome him back for pre season but he will stay beyond the 1 September deadline if he sees meaningful evidence of him playing regularly for the first team.

This comes after Sky Sports claimed on 28 May that he wants to quit Elland Road for good and play for the newly-promoted Luton Town after spending this past season there on loan.

This past season, it was Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen that competed for the right-back berth and neither of them did a good job.

There were issues about the defensive positioning of both the players and even going forward, Kritensen may have offered more than the Englishman, but it was still not good enough.

The Dane was only signed last summer and if the club are to sell him, they will make a loss as valuations in the Championship drop drastically.

Ayling, on the other hand, is past 30 and his best days are behind him so keeping him makes very little sense. Instead, next season must be used to make Drameh the first choice and as he showed with Luton, he can shine in the Championship and be part of a promotion-winning side.

If the 21-year-old does not see any movements on the right-back side of things then he could leave in the final weeks of the window.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a Whites senior player is now set to leave the club at a discounted fee post relegation and will not be signing a new contract.
