Morgan Gibbs-White has thanked Nottingham Forest fans for their support through a rollercoaster season.
Within an hour of the Reds’ season finale, a 2-1 victory over Burnley, the 24-year-old took to social media to sum up what has been a remarkable campaign.
The attacker played the full 90 minutes at Turf Moor, as Chris Wood scored twice to ensure Forest finished six points clear of the relegation places.
Soon after he posted a message to fans on Instagram and X: “What a season! Full of ups and downs but one thing that has remained constant has been your support throughout. Can’t thank you all enough for the love and belief you’ve given us. What a city, what a club!”
Gibbs-White played 37 Premier League games this season, scoring six goals and providing ten assists.
However, team-mate Anthony Elanga sparked concern in a now deleted comment among some respondents after commenting: “Loved playing with you bro’ – leaving fans wondering if it was a typo, a joke or an indication the former Wolves man might be moving on.
One replied ‘Pls don’t leave’ while others also urged Gibbs-White to remain at the City Ground.
A second replied “Thankyou Morgan for your efforts this year. Please stay here in Nottingham”
A third replied “Please stay Morgan we all love you here, your the best player I’ve seen for forest in 23 years and you always try so hard love it bro keep it up.”
A Fourth replied “Last ever post as a Forest player?”
A fifth fan added “Please don’t go Morgan 🙏 you are our future, our club needs you, our city needs you , we need you mate 👍
Another added “Please dont leave us morgan! Hopefully see you and your family at the world famous city ground next season. Your our goat you cant leave now we are only starting we need you in our team more than ever next season. Have a lovely holiday COYR🔴⚪️
That comes after Gibbs-White was linked with a summer move to Tottenham, the same journey made by Brennan Johnson 12 months ago. Gibbs-White has another three years remaining on the contract he signed in 2022.
