“Outstanding performance from both players, absolutely magnificent magnificent”- Jon Newsome praises Leeds duo after brilliant display vs Millwall
BBC Radio Leeds pundit Jon Newsome has raved about Leeds United duo Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray for their performance against Millwall away from home.
Leeds United have got the better of Millwall 3-0 away from home in the Championship this afternoon.
Joel Piroe put Leeds in the lead in the 15th minute.
Piroe made it 2-0 to Daniel Farke’s side on 77 minutes.
And then on 81 minutes, Rutter made it 3-0 to the visiting team.
Former Leeds defender Jon Newsome was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds.
And he was impressed with midfielders Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray.
Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds: “Ampadu again and Archie Gray both absolutely magnificent in the middle of the park, picking up second balls. Just outstanding performance from both players.”
Ampadu and Gray started in defensive midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Impressive displays from Ampadu and Gray
In our view, Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray were two of the best players for Leeds United against Millwall.
While Gray, 17, was not at his best, he did put in some very good tackles and timed his challenges well. The England Under-17 international imposed himself in the middle of the park and shielded the defence well.
Ampadu, who joined Leeds from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, has been one of the best players for the West Yorkshire club this season.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder had yet another good game. The Wales international distributed the ball well, kept things ticking over, and was very good in possession.
