Newcastle United will entertain Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park this Sunday as they hope to bounce back with a win in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a shock 3-0 loss away at Aston Villa recently which has dampened their mood ahead of this game.
Eddie Howe will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could make some changes to his starting XI for this clash against Spurs. Sean Longstaff will get a chance to play from the start of this game while Elliot Anderson settles for a spot on the bench.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Nick Pope will function in goal for the Magpies after conceding three goals in his last outing. Sven Botman and Fabian Schar will operate as Newcastle’s primary centre-halves as they try to keep the Tottenham attackers frustrated throughout the game.
Kieran Trippier will be a nailed-on start at right-back while Dan Burn looks to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would be eager to produce a good display out in the wide areas.
Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Target will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park and try to expose Tottenham’s defensive weaknesses on the counter.
As mentioned earlier, Elliot Anderson will have to be content with a place on the bench as he waits for his chance to catch the eye as a late-game substitute if needed.
Attack
Joelinton will play as the left-winger while Miguel. Almiron looks to put his pace to good use from the right. Alexander Isak will once again lead the charge for the Tyneside giants in the final third. He has to find a way to threaten the opposition goal.
Callum Wilson will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if Newcastle United are in need of a goal by then. However, Allan Saint-Maximin will definitely miss this game due to a hamstring injury.
