“Leeds are flying at the minute but Sunderland put on a rousing display against West Brom, This should be some game”- Sky Sports host David Prutton drops prediction for Sunderland v Leeds game today

David Prutton has backed Leeds United to edge out Sunderland in their Championship clash on Tuesday (12 December).

Sunderland were victorious in their first game since Tony Mowbray was sacked, defeating West Brom 2-1 in what Sky Sports host Prutton described as a “rousing display”.

However, former Leeds midfielder expects Daniel Farke’s side to triumph 2-1 having seen off Blackburn Rovers 2-0 on Saturday (9 December).

In his predictions for Sky Sports, he wrote: “Sunderland put on a rousing display against West Brom, taking victory in their first game since the departure of Tony Mowbray. Can they continue that momentum into their clash with Leeds?

“Leeds United are flying at the minute. There is so much attacking talent there, and they are scoring goals for fun. This should be some game, I think Daniel Farke’s side will edge it.

“Prediction: 1-2.”

Sunderland are still without a full-time boss having surprisingly dismissed Mowbray, and Mike Dodds will once again take charge of the Black Cats when high-flying Leeds make the trip to the North East on Tuesday.

The Mackems were certainly in the mood against the Baggies, although there were more than a few flash points in an incident-packed game, and Daniel Ballard was extremely lucky not to be sent off for a crude challenge on Josh Maja.

Leeds are in excellent form themselves and only the continued excellence of Leicester City and Ipswich Town is keeping them out of the automatic places, and they will desperate not to lose any more ground as we head towards a busy festive period.

So, let’s hope Prutton is right and Leeds can win on their travels again and start racking up some early Christmas presents before Santa has even taken the reindeer out of he paddocks and set off for his jaunt around the world.
