“League One standard at best, Needs to go”- Nottingham Forest fans send critical message to Evangelos Marinakis & Nuno about Matt Turner as they all say the same thing after Brentford loss

Nottingham Forest lost their first Premier League match of 2024 in controversial circumstances as Ivan Toney stole the headlines at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Brentford striker returned from an eight-month ban to score an impudent – and for some illegal – free-kick to cancel out Danilo’s stunning opener. Toney moved the ball from the place where the restart was supposed to be taken and curled his effort around a poorly-placed wall to make it 1-1.

Nuno Espirito Santo ’s side levelled through Chris Wood after Ben Mee scored from a corner only for Neal Maupay to wrap up the points for Thomas Frank’s team. It was a result that left the Reds just four points and two places above the bottom three.

But it was also a performance that, with six players away at the African Nations Cup and the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga out injured, left many Forest fans with hope although fans were also quick to point out how easy it was to put goals past Matt Turner who was in goal against Brentford.

@OliverJacks: To be honest we were missing quality, movement was poor in final 3rd and that created a lack of quality in the pass. The positions that we kept getting into we should really have been out of sight but some terrible passing and some very basic defensive mistakes cost us dear. I think we are a position where the defence feels it has to do everything due to not trusting the keeper with his feet and that adds pressure and silly mistakes. It looks simple to fix but unless we sort it and with point deduction looming we could be in trouble.

@AndyBrett: I’m sorry Turner again lacking, as soon as that free kick went in it was obvious the wall wasn’t set properly, Yates questioned it but why wasn’t Hudson odoi in the wall? Poor keeping yet again, I’d rather see Harvath given a shot

@Robert: Don’t wanna say his his name but the gole keeper needs to go and that gole from a free kick should of bin dis allowed ????
.
@Tr1ckyTrees: With all our injuries and players at AFCON I wasn’t expecting to get anything at Brentford today, but the way we have lost that match hurts!!!

@MagicMangala: Tavares and Turner can walk home

@AJMORROW01: Need a Keeper

CraigFrancis: If only Mangala knew where the goal was. He’s been playing awesome recently.
Also.. New man between the sticks needed !!!

@NunoWalkerv We cannot defend!!! we need a proper keeper and must improve our set piece organisation urgently.

@PaulNewman: No leadership from the keeper at all , ultimately resulting in a goal that could of been prevented and thus lost us the game !!!

@DaveVarley: Please buy a new goalkeeper

@SteveStringer: Need a keeper this month ????????

@RichardRobson: Can’t defend, have no keeper and an imminent points deduction. Going to be a fun season ????

@BaihomaFortune: I think forest look alot better under this manager, not sitting back, closing down from the front, passing looks better but room for improvement, a bit more work on defending, definitely need a keeper.

@RobTasker: Keeper defence is league1 standard at best

@DavidMilligan: Desperately need a quality GK ????⚪️????????
