“It’s been an honour to have belonged to Everton, You are in my heart forever- Yerry Mina sends emotional goodbye message to Everton fans after summer departure confirmed

Yerry Mina has taken to social media to send a farewell message to Everton supporters ahead of his departure from Goodison Park this summer.

Mina, 28, arrived at Goodison Park back in 2018 for a fee worth £27million and has since recorded 99 appearances for the Merseyside club.

The centre-back had not featured under Sean Dyche at all until last month, when he helped Everton pick up seven points from their final four games of the Premier League season and survive relegation to the Championship.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday afternoon, Mina wrote: “Dear Toffees family, I would like to dedicate these lines to say goodbye to all of you and try to describe how I feel at this moment.

“Before the last game, I told you that we had one last mission together…and we did it! The union between the team and the fans has been spectacular. As it has always been throughout the history of this great club. Football is a wonderful sport, and it always gives us the opportunity to improve and come back stronger.

“I want to thank you for every moment shared over the last five years, for every nation and for making Goodison Park a magical place. I take with me the spectacular atmosphere at every game, the passion and respect you always show. Thank you to the club for their trust, and to all my teammates and coaches.

“It has been an honour to have belonged to Everton, and wherever I go, I will be cheering for sure.

“You are in my heart forever. Farewell Everton.”

Fond farewell

Although Mina has endured his fair share of ups and downs, in the end, he played a simply pivotal role in Everton remaining in the Premier League this season.

After falling out of favour under both Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche in the early days of his time at Goodison Park, the centre-back came roaring back into the first team at the most important point of the season.

It was only for four Premier League games, but Mina made his presence felt.

He was simply immense in the 5-1 victory over Brighton, netted the 98th-minute equaliser against Wolves and managed to record a clean sheet on the final day of the season against Bournemouth.

Unfortunately, this brief cameo may later be overshadowed by the huge number of injuries and poor patches of form that the Colombian has faced since arriving at Goodison Park in 2018.

The jury will always remain out for Mina in an Everton shirt, but this message highlighted how much the club mean to him.

Toffees fans will surely bid him a fond farewell after successfully helping the club stave off relegation this season.
