“I’m not really sure about him, I’m not sure if he puts in the grafts, if he suits the team”- Danny Murphy expresses doubt over Aston Villa new signing as he suggests player doesn’t work hard enough & might not fit Villa’s style

Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy has some doubts about Aston Villa signing Youri Tielemans.

Aston Villa brought in Youri Tielemans from Leicester City on a free transfer during the summer window, so it looks like a good piece of business.

However, Murphy, who has been speaking on FIVE, is not sure if the 26-year-old covers enough yards on the pitch or suits Villa’s style of play.”

Discussing Villa’s acquisition of Tielemans, Murphy said: “I’m not sure on Tielemans, you know. Super talented, but I’m not sure he puts the graft in.”

“I don’t know if he suits the team or Emery’s style, I’m not really sure about that”

Tielemans has played in all four of Villa’s Premier League games so far this season but is yet to start a match in the top flight for his new club. The midfielder was a key player for Leicester last term, making just over 30 league appearances.

However, with the Foxes getting relegated to the Championship and his contract expiring, Unai Emery was able to snap him up.

While Tielemans may not be the sort of midfielder who is going to cover the whole pitch and win loads of tackles every game, he still has a lot to offer to this Villa side. The Belgium international is obviously a very technical footballer who is really good at passing the ball.

It is now up to Emery to utilise that. If he does not, you would have to question the Spaniard’s decision to bring him in.

After the international break, Villa take on Crystal Palace at home, where Tielemans will be hoping to make his first league start in claret and blue.
