“i’ll always give 100 percent of efforts in every situation”- Another Leicester player tenders open apology to Foxes fans as he hints at staying at club despite PL relegation
Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has tendered an open apology to fans after his side Relegation from the Premier League this season.
The homegrown midfielder is the latest player to post on social media about the club’s relegation to the Championship, saying the table proved they weren’t good enough
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has apologised to Leicester City supporters for a relegation that he believes should not have happened with the quality he and his team-mates possess.
The homegrown midfielder is the latest to address City’s fall into the Championship a fortnight ago, the club finishing two points short of survival despite victory over West Ham on the final day. He says the Premier League table proves City did not perform well enough, despite the ability in their squad, and vowed to give 100 per cent at whatever comes next.
Writing on social media, Dewsbury-Hall said: “I wanted to stay clear of all social media platforms for some time. But I feel as though I have a responsibility to acknowledge the things that have happened and apologise to the fans.
“For whatever reason, we were not good enough this season and ultimately that showed – the table doesn’t lie. With the squad that we had, we shouldn’t have been in that position, but we were, and it wasn’t good enough, so I want to apologise to everybody for that.
“All we can do now is recognise what went wrong, learn from it, and put it right. All I know is that, whatever happens, I’ll always give 100 per cent of my efforts in every situation. Thank you for your continued support.”
The 24-year-old is expected to be one of the members of the squad who remains at City to try to fight for promotion back to the Premier League. He signed a new deal at the King Power Stadium last summer, committing himself to the club until 2027. However, his name has been mentioned in connection with Premier League new boys Luton Town, where he won player of the season on loan in the 2020-21 campaign.
This term was Dewsbury-Hall’s second full season in the City squad, and he played in 31 matches, scoring twice. However, he only started two of the eight matches once Dean Smith took the reins. In the seven matches he missed completely, City took just three points from a possible 21.
