“If Everton don’t beat Bournemouth, they’ve only got themselves to blame”- Danny Murphy says Everton cannot afford final day loss to Bournemouth
Danny Murphy believes Everton are “strong favourites” to stay in the Premier League this season. The Toffees are involved in a relegation battle with both Leeds United and Leicester City going into the final day of the season.
Sean Dyche’s men currently sit 17th on 33 points, two points ahead of the Whites and the Foxes.
“Everton are strong favourites [to stay up],” Murphy said live on talkSPORT. “The only thing that can mess that up is some kind of silly, emotional, erratic tackle that’s a sending off, or Bournemouth playing tremendously well on the counter.
“Because the need and the desire from the Everton players… I know people don’t like to hear that because they should be getting it no matter what the game, but because Bournemouth have already succeeded, it will surpass Bournemouth’s desire.
“That extra 10 per cent, 20 per cent, you find when you need to for some reason. Yes, it should always be there, but the need for those Everton players is so much greater than Bournemouth. If Everton don’t beat Bournemouth, they’ve only got themselves to blame.”

Despite that advantage, there will be plenty of nerves around Goodison Park in the build-up to the match and of course during it.
Fans will be watching on in anxiety, worried about their own players but also worried about how the matches at Elland Road and the King Power Stadium are going.
Leeds have a very tricky test against Tottenham at Elland Road, with Leicester hosting West Ham at the King Power Stadium.
There really is no telling how the matches will go on what is a highly-anticipated final day, with plenty of twists and turns expected along the way.
Ultimately for the Toffees, their Premier League fate is in their own hands, and the club should really be backing themselves going into the match given how the Cherries have already secured their safety and have very little to play for.
