“I remember the day, It’s one of my favorite games ever, ever in my whole life, We never gave up”- Conor Coady recalls Wolves 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa in 2021 as he issues rallying cry ahead of Midlands derby

The international break is now over and Wolves return to Premier League action tomorrow, and have a huge game against Aston Villa.
Wanderers are looking to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat to Coventry City in the FA Cup quarter-final, which for many fans will still hurt.
But the result will likely be quickly forgotten if Wanderers are victorious at Villa Park.
Unai Emery’s side are having a great season and currently sit fourth in the table, and it will be a tall order for Wolves.
But Gary O’Neil has masterminded some fantastic results this season, and has shown he can get his tactics right to upset the odds.
This fixture has thrown up some classics over the years and there is perhaps none more memorable than the 3-2 comeback win in 2021…

The 3-2 win at Villa Park back in October 2021 is perhaps the most memorable result since Wolves came back up to the Premier League.
Wolves spoke with Conor Coady this week ahead of Saturday’s game, and the former captain has recalled that day. He said: “It’s one of my favorite games ever, ever in my whole life. I remember the day, we weren’t that good, we didn’t perform.
“We know how big the derbies are around these parts in the Midlands. Going to Villa Park is a massive game for Wolves. To be 2-0 down was disappointing, we never played that well. But we said to ourselves ‘Don’t stop, we can get a goal and things change’. We never gave up, we know what can happen at 2-0 and 2-1.”
Coady grabbed Wolves’ second goal that day, equalising after Romain Saiss had pulled one back for the visitors.

That win over Villa was truly incredible, just because of how dead and buried Wolves looked. There just seemed to be zero chance of Wanderers scoring and putting the hosts on edge. They were so poor that day, so to have come back to actually win in the final 15 minutes, against a rival, was nothing short of amazing.
Hopefully, things are a little less chaotic on Saturday and Wolves can enjoy a nice straightforward win. If we’re being honest though, fans would undoubtedly take another hugely satisfying comeback victory, just like in 2021.
