Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has shared his thoughts on owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Sheffield Wednesday are turning heads in the Championship and in the English Football League following a positive start to the summer transfer window.

Danny Rohl has already welcomed eight new players to his Sheffield Wednesday first-team squad, and a ninth is expected soon with Nathaniel Chalobah set to join on a free transfer.

There’s still more signings expected, with Sheffield Wednesday likely to target more loan signings as the summer transfer window moves into its latter stages. And amid the flurry of new signings, controversial Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri is earning praise.

Sheffield Wednesday fans have hailed Chansiri following the new contract for Rohl and the subsequent influx of new players, with improvements being made to certain facilities at the club as well.

It comes after a difficult season for Chansiri who was the subject of major criticism among Sheffield Wednesday fans last time round, with fan group The 1867 Group staging multiple protests against the ownership.

Now, Rohl has also given his thoughts on Chansiri following a strong start to the summer transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday players are currently at St George’s Park for part of their pre-season training plans. During the camp, Rohl spoke to The Star, giving his verdict on the club’s summer transfer business so far and on Chansiri.

Rohl said: “It’s so important that everyone is here, and that we’ve had preseason together.

“It was a topic in the summer when I met the chairman, and I think he’s doing a good job.

“He’s keeping to his promise to improve the team, He’s helping to get the deals done, which is always important, and I have his support.”

Chansiri is certainly worthy of what is rare praise at Sheffield Wednesday, with the club having definitely turned a corner this summer.

And whilst praise is due to Rohl as well, without whom this change may never have been possible, there should also be praise for head of recruitment Kevin Beadell.

Rohl also discussed Beadell’s work this summer in the above interview, citing the ‘good job’ that he’s doing. Beadell was appointed by Chansiri at the end of last year in what’s proving to be another good appointment.

With Beadell in place, Sheffield Wednesday have much more of an infrastructure in place, rather than Chansiri calling all the shots.

Finally, it seems as though the Owls owner is giving power over football matters to those with expertise in the matter, and Sheffield Wednesday are quickly reaping the rewards.
