“He doesn’t really get on with the manager and the style of play doesn’t suit him” – Journalist says West Ham star is worried about David Moyes tactics with player now pushing for Hammers exit this summer

Journalist Toby Cudworth has claimed that Lucas Paqueta wants to leave West Ham United and join Manchester City this summer because he doesn’t like David Moyes.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Manchester club are looking to sign the midfielder this summer.

After seeing City get a verbal offer of £70m knocked back by the Hammers, one journalist has shared some behind-the-scenes details regarding the player’s current situation at the east London club.

Speaking in a recent edition of the Talking Transfers podcast, Cudworth had this to say on the matter.

He said: “He doesn’t really get on with David Moyes, they don’t get on and West Ham’s style of play doesn’t not suit Lucas Paqueta, you don’t need a rocket scientist to tell you that.

“Manchester City have now come in for Lucas Paqueta and he obviously wants to make that move.

“As it stands, City have communicated to West Ham a verbal offer to begin with. They’ve not formalised their interest yet with a written bid, we’re anticipating that they’re going to.

“West Ham’s stance is that they don’t want to sell but every player has a price really and if City cough up the goods, Paqueta is probably going to be leaving West Ham this summer.”

Paqueta joined West Ham last summer for a club record fee of £51m and went on to score five goals and deliver seven assists in 39 appearances across the Premier League and the Europa Conference League.

With Moyes confirming that City had made a £70m offer for the Brazilian but that this was nowhere near the east London club’s valuation, this shows that the treble winners will have to stump up a significant fee if they want to get the midfielder at the Etihad Stadium.

However, with Paqueta apparently not having a great relationship with the manager, it could be in everyone’s best interest to see West Ham sell the midfielder and bring in a suitable replacement rather than keep him and risk there being bad blood in the dressing room.

Also, taking into account how successful City have been in recent years in terms of winning numerous trophies, it’s easy to see why the 25-year-old would be keen to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
