“He can be a top player under Unai Emery, I would definitely pay £50m for him” – Gabriel Agbonlahor urges Aston Villa and Unai Emery to sign highly rated Leicester City star this summer

Gabby Agbonlahor gives verdict on Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes after the player is linked with summer transfer

Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Harvey Barnes could become a “superstar” at Aston Villa, after the winger was linked with a summer switch from Leicester City.

The Daily Mail claim that Barnes could leave Leicester this summer and Villa are one of a few clubs who are interested in signing him. Villa head coach Unai Emery wants to add more depth to his attack this summer, and Barnes would appeal for his pace and eye for a goal.

Leicester have been struggling towards the bottom of the table all season, but Barnes has hit double figures for goals this term, netting 10 times and providing one assist in 30 top-flight appearances. Villa’s all-time Premier League top scorer Agbonlahor thinks Barnes would be a top addition to Emery’s squad this summer.

He told Football Insider: “I really like him. He’s a little bit of good coaching away from being a superstar, in my opinion.

“I think that under Emery, he can be a top player and a regular England international. I would pay £50million for him this summer, definitely.”

Barnes’ value could decrease if Leicester are relegated this month, with Dean Smith’s side perilously close to the drop zone heading into their final four games of the season. The Foxes face Fulham on Monday, before they host Liverpool, travel to Newcastle and then host West Ham on the final day.
