Chloe Kitts, a standout forward for the South Carolina Gamecocks, has been named the 2025 Naismith Player of the Year, a prestigious honor recognizing her exceptional performance throughout the season. This accolade solidifies her status as one of the premier talents in women’s college basketball.

Throughout the 2024-2025 season, Kitts has been instrumental in the Gamecocks’ success. She led the team in rebounding, averaging a career-best 7.88 boards per game, ranking her ninth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Her dominance on the boards was particularly evident during conference play, where she elevated her average to 8.25 rebounds per game, placing her fourth in the SEC. Among her impressive performances was a triple-double against Ole Miss on February 27, 2025, marking only the second such achievement in an SEC game in the program’s history.

Kitts’ contributions were pivotal during the SEC Tournament, where she was named the Most Valuable Player. Her leadership and on-court prowess guided South Carolina to secure the championship, further highlighting her critical role on the team.

In the NCAA Tournament, Kitts continued to showcase her talent. In a second-round matchup against Indiana, she played a key role in overcoming a halftime deficit, leading the Gamecocks to a 64-53 victory and securing their spot in the Sweet 16.

Off the court, Kitts has garnered attention for her relationship with fellow South Carolina basketball player Collin Murray-Boyles. The couple has been in the public eye since confirming their relationship in April 2024, often sharing moments of mutual support and celebration of each other’s achievements.

Kitts’ journey to collegiate stardom began with a decorated high school career, earning MaxPreps Junior All-America Second Team honors in 2021-2022. Her success extended to the international stage, where she secured gold medals with USA Basketball at the 2022 FIBA U18 AmeriCup and the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.

The Naismith Player of the Year award is a testament to Kitts’ dedication, skill, and impact on the game. As she continues her collegiate career, the basketball community eagerly anticipates her future contributions to the sport.
