“Get rid If he doesn’t want to be here, Nobody is bigger than the club, We only want players who want to be here”- Leeds fans turn on Willy Gnonto as they react to his refusal to play for club in a bid to force Everton move

Leeds winger Willy Gnonto has reportedly asked to be LEFT OUT of squad for Carabao Cup tie as he seeks a move away from Elland Road.

Leeds United rejected a 15m bid from Everton for 19-year-old winger last month, Daniel Farke’s side have seen several top stars depart after suffering relegation. However, the club are insistent that the Italian international is not for sale

Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto was left out of their line-up to face Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night as he seeks a move away.

Mail Sport understands that Gnonto asked not to be considered for the First Round North tie as he wants the club to consider letting him go before the window closes.

Leeds have been steadfast in their response to interested parties saying they don’t wish to sell the Italy international who has four years left on contract after signing last September from Zurich.

He made a big impact during a difficult season that saw Leeds relegated and has attracted a number of enquiries with the likes of Burnley, Freiburg, Inter Milan and Everton all interested.

Leeds have allowed a number of players to leave owing to relegation clauses and more are expected to go. USA midfielder Tyler Adams is being lined up for a £20m move to Chelsea.

Gnonto, who played 82 minutes of Leeds’ opening Championship game against Cardiff City at the weekend, understands Leeds’ position but is growing frustrated as he wants the opportunity to speak to interested clubs and return to playing top flight football – especially with a place in Italy’s squad at stake in the European Championships at the end of the season.

Leeds Fans have now taken to social media to react to the report:

One said: If he doesn’t want to be here, get rid. £25m+ or let him rot on reserves if he doesn’t want to play.

A second reacted: Why? If he wants to go then fine. He can go Everton and spend this season like the last. If we can spend the money on players who want to be here that’s fine.

A third reacted: Nobody is bigger than the club, if he has refused to play get him gone but on our terms.

Another fan reacted: Rumour was he didn’t want to play Sunday but was told to ——- Everton bound

A fifth fan reacted: If he doesn’t want to play then sell him. Would rather Piroe up top than him on the bench sulking

A sixth reacted: He thinks he’s messi!

Another fan reacted: Sell him, seriously sell him! I’m guessing the quote needs to be changed to “SELF BEFORE SIDE?” … If you don’t want to be here, off you pop!!

Another fan reacted: Don’t know who he thinks he is he’s not done anything in about 5 month????

One said: His attitude stinks
