“Get him in the side, Honestly don’t know why Nuno doesn’t play him, Time to give him a start”- Nottingham Forest fans all say the same thing as they question Nuno’s use of Forest star after another incredible display for national team
Nottingham Forest fans have questioned the logic behind Nuno Espirito’s benching of USMNT star Gio Reyna following the winger’s heroics for his country over the international break.
The winger was in the starting eleven alongside Forest teammate Matt Turner as the USMNT took on Mexico in the final of the Concacaf Nations League. Both players have fallen down the pecking order at Forest, with Turner and Reyna both on the fringes of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Still, the players were called up by the national team it appears both players remain integral in the eyes of Gregg Berhalter.
Last night, Reyna scored and claimed the Best Nations League Player, with Turner scooping the Best Nations League Goalkeeper.
It represented a nice change of pace for the two players particularly for Gio Reyna who has struggled for gametime at Forest since joining the club on loan in January.
Well, it was a vintage performance from Reyna last night as he showcased what Forest are missing by not picking him. The 21-year-old scored a stunning goal as the USMNT ran out 2-0 victors in the final to get their hands on silverware once more.
Reyna has played for just 39 minutes at Forest and right now he must be wondering why he even bothered signing for the club.
Forest Fans question Nuno’s use of Gio Reyna
Phil Whyman: Can we please play Reyna for longer than 10 minutes !!
Ryan Tyler: Reyna played fantastic too. Needs to be in the team! I’d drop Yates after recent performances. Dominguez and Reyna in the middle for me.
Paul Hancock: Can’t even get onto the pitch in our relegation fight.
Mark Shortt: Get reyna in the side ….his had good performances in last few internationals….
Matt Dixon; I know Reyna’s attitude has always been a bit suspect, but I can’t understand why Nuno has brought him in just to bench him?
Matt Ledbetter: Start Gio
Javier Alejandro: Put that kid on the field
Phil Harrison: Time we gave Gio a start, even if it means resting MGW. Honestly don’t know why Nuno doesn’t play him
Stephen Langley: It seems the club is the problem.
Fans are right when they says that Reyna looked classy and now is the time for Forest to give him an opportunity.
It makes zero sense for Espirito Santo to utilise Divock Origi on the flanks when he has a player like the youngster sat on the fringes.
Reyna looked like an attractive signing when he swapped Dortmund for Forest in search of more games. The talented player has been a popular figure with the Bundesliga outfit, making 121 appearances despite his tender years.
Forest are struggling for goals right now and as a result, it seems only right that Reyna earns himself a start in the coming weeks for his temporary club.
