Wolves are set to offload a number of players this summer – and there is now word of an asking price for winger Chiquinho.

It is expected that several players will be leaving Molineux, although it likely won’t be an exodus like it was last summer due to financial concerns. But certainly, a handful will be leaving. Loan players like Daniel Podence, Goncalo Guedes and Fabio Silva are all probably going to be departing.

The winger was with Farmalicao last season, having initially gone to Stoke City. He played regular minutes and impressed, and now he is wanted by Sporting CP. It was now been reported how much Wolves would be willing to sell the player for…

Wolves reportedly set £8.5 million asking price for Chiquinho

Last term, Chiquinho made 31 appearances, scoring five goals and making four assists. It was all about him getting out and playing again after he had suffered an horrendous knee injury during the off-season in 2021.

That injury was so unfortunate, because Chiquinho had been Wolves’ bright spark at the end of the 2021/22 season. Many fans couldn’t wait to see him kick on the following season, but he never got the chance and spent the full 2022/23 campaign on the sidelines.

So last season was good for Chiquinho, and his performances have now attracted interest from Sporting. According to O Jogo, Wolves would be willing to sell Chiquinho for around £8.5 million.

That would net the club a small profit on the player of around £5.5 million. Apparently, there hasn’t been any contact between Wolves and Sporting just yet, but there have been some discussions between intermediaries.

So Wolves could sell Chiquinho for £8.5 million this summer, which probably wouldn’t be too bad considering the knee injury he had. To make a profit of £5.5 million would be decent going. However, Chiquinho has a lot of potential and selling him could prove to be a mistake.

Wolves fans saw how lively he was in the months after he first signed from Estoril in January 2022. On the face of it, he seems like a Gary O’Neil kind of player. He’s quick and direct and has previously been described as ‘electric’, and potentially he could have first-team involvement next season.

The manager will need to take a closely look at him in pre-season training. If he feels there is a player there he can use, then the board need to back him and reject any offers from Sporting.
