EXCLUSIVE: Nottingham Forest register interest to sign 26-year old former Tottenham and Celtic defender as Nuno looks to strengthen weak defensive ranks this January
Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers this month according to SBI Soccer.
Well, it would appear as though the central defender is now a wanted man in the Premier League.
Forest are credited with being interested in the player, although Brentford and West Ham are also keen on the 26-year-old, according to SBI Soccer.
Carter-Vickers signed for Celtic in 2021, initially joining on loan from Tottenham. After a successful temporary period, he made the switch permanent in June 2022 and led the Hoops to a domestic treble.
Carter-Vickers has made 101 appearances for Celtic – scoring five goals and also being named in the SPFL Best XI for 2022 and 2023.
The player is an international teammate of Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner and featured for the USA at the World Cup.
The defender has a contract at Parkhead until 2026 and as a result, he might not come cheap this month. Joe Hart has praised Carter-Vickers for his efforts and he’s called him ‘exceptional’ and a ‘top player’.
Furthermore, Squawka shows that Carter-Vickers is more of a predator in the air than Willy Boly – which could come in handy in both boxes.
Forest are short in defence with Boly and Moussa Niakhate currently at the African Cup of Nations and Felipe injured.
At 26, Carter-Vickers fits the profile of a player Forest might look at he’d perhaps be an interesting addition to the squad.
Rumour rating: 7/10 – In our view, there is a lot to like about Carter-Vickers being linked with Forest.
He’s a defender who does have some experience of the English game, although he’d have to prove himself again in the Premier League. At 26, he’d time on his side though and that makes him an attractive link from a Forest perspective.
