EXCLUSIVE: Leicester City seriously interested in signing Premier League midfielder in January on a bargain deal
Leicester City are “keen on” Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill ahead of the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old was a key member of the Burnley team that won the Championship at a canter last season. He had fallen out of favour at the start of this term, but is now back in favour and has scored three times in the Premier League.
Brownhill is in the final year of his contract, and while Burnley are “ready” to trigger a one-year extension clause, they will still have to fend off interest from four teams, including City.
That’s according to our colleagues at the Mirror, who say Leicester are “keen on” Brownhill amid interest from Premier League trio Wolves, Crystal Palace and Fulham. The report suggests that Wolves are the most serious contenders for his signature.
Leicester tried and failed to sign a central midfielder on transfer deadline day this past summer, with Manchester City’s James McAtee electing to join Sheffield United on loan instead. While McAtee would have been cover for a now-fully-fit Dennis Praet, Leicester may still want a new midfielder this winter.
Leicester have also been credited with interest in Bodø/Glimt midfielder Albert Grønbæk. Meanwhile Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing Wilfred Ndidi next summer, according to reports in Spain.
