EXCLUSIVE: Leeds United set to table bid to sign Man United star, player would be a really good signing
Leeds United are now looking to sign Manchester United full back Brandon Williams in a potential Daniel Farke reunion.
Brandon Williams is now wanted by Leeds United as Daniel Farke chases new signings this week. That is according to a report from The Independent, who claim that Leeds are now set to push to sign Williams.
It’s suggested that United are now looking for all departures to be permanent at this stage in the transfer window.
United don’t want to be loaning players out and instead want to sell in order to fund more signings for Erik ten Hag.
That means Leeds may need to come up with a cash offer for Williams if they want to bring the defender to Elland Road. It’s not often that we see Manchester United doing deals with bitter rivals Leeds.
Yet with Williams unlikely to play a first-team role at United and just one year left on his contract – albeit with a one-year option in the deal – the Red Devils may just be tempted to flog Williams.
A move to Leeds would mean that Williams plays under new boss Daniel Farke once again.
Williams joined Norwich City on loan for the 2021-22 season, meaning he spent time working with Farke at Carrow Road. Upon signing Williams, Farke suggested that the defender was ‘full of potential’ and had proven his ability at the top level.
Williams only played seven times under Farke though, enjoying much more first-team action under his replacement Dean Smith.
It’s therefore a little surprising that Farke is so keen to sign Williams again, but maybe he appreciates the Manchester United talent’s versatility.
Williams can play as a left back or right back that versatility is very handy over the course of a 46-game Championship season.
Williams was born in Manchester and has been in the United ranks for a long time, so leaving won’t be an easy decision, but he could play a vital role in a Leeds promotion push this season.
