EXCLUSIVE: Leeds loanee will now regret leaving Elland Road after he was shockingly omitted from new club’s European squad
Rasmus Kristensen will regret leaving Elland Road as Leeds United loanee dealt European blow.
Leeds United lost several players in the summer transfer window following their relegation from the Premier League last season. Many of those were senior figures at Elland Road, with their losses a huge blow to the new man in the dugout Daniel Farke.
However, there is hope that many players on that list can return to the club next summer given how they only left West Yorkshire on loan.
That is the case for the likes of Robin Koch, Max Wober, Luis Sinisterra, Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Jack Harrison.
Also among the players to have left on loan is right-back Rasmus Kristensen, although his temporary switch to Serie A side Roma hasn’t gone to plan so far.
The Denmark international was handed 65 minutes on his debut against Salernitana, then just 45 minutes in the following match against Hellas Verona. Clearly unimpressed, Roma manager Jose Mourinho then left the player on the bench for the meeting with AC Milan.
But now the defender may be in for his biggest blow yet in his brief spell in Italy, with Corriere dello Sport (4 September) reporting that Kristensen may be left out of Roma’s Europa League squad due to restrictions imposed on the Serie A club for Financial Fair Play reasons.
Given how he is capable of playing right-back, right midfield, centre-back and central midfield, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Kristensen would have been a regular on the pitch for the Whites this season.
Now, he may be forced to spend plenty of time on the sidelines in the Italian capital, which is not an ideal scenario for the player, or indeed for his parent club Leeds.
