EXCLUSIVE: Huge Blow for Wolves as £15m star is now set to follow Fabio Silva and leave club this January as player gives greenlight to Molineux exit after frustration over lack of game-time under Gary O’Neil

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic has reportedly given the green light to a potential move to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in January.

The Austria international has been in a frustrating situation for a couple of months now at Molineux. Gary O’Neil has shown a real reluctance to use the 26-year-old striker and as a result, speculation has now started to pick up about his future.

O’Neil has much preferred to use the likes of Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan in attack, with Kalajdzic playing just 157 minutes in the Premier League all season.

Fabio Silva has already departed Molineux and joined Rangers on loan, and it looks as though Kalajdzic wants to follow the Portuguese out of the exit door.

Earlier this month it was reported that Wolves were considering offloading Kalajdzic. Bild have reported today that Kalajdzic does indeed want to leave Wolves in January, with Eintracht Frankfurt a club he would like to join.

It is claimed (via Sport.de) that Wolves and Eintracht have actually already agreed on a loan for the player until the end of the season.

But there are still discussions taking place right now about a potential purchase option to be triggered at the end of the season. Presumably, Wolves would want to recoup as much of the £15 million they paid to sign him from Stuttgart as possible.

Kalajdzic’s agent is quoted as saying that there is interest from clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

O’Neil was actually asked about the Kalajdzic speculation before the game with Everton, and essentially said that there could be no move for the player unless someone else came in.

If O’Neil does not see value in Kalajdzic then he surely has to move on in January, especially since it’s Euro 2024 next year and he needs to be playing ahead of the tournament.

Hopefully Wolves can get someone else in so that Kalajdzic can then seal his exit.

It sounds as though a move back to the Bundesliga is what he wants, but it’s a case of Wolves making sure they have enough cover. After all, Silva has departed now and Hwang Hee-chan is also joining up with South Korea for the Asian Cup.

Ideally, Wolves would sell Kalajdzic and bring some money in now. But it may well be that a loan with option to buy is more realistic.
