EXCLUSIVE: Huge blow as Leeds United see opening £4m bid for Norwich Star rejected

Leeds United have failed with an opening bid of around £4million for Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean ahead of the transfer deadline.

Norwich City have turned down a bid from Leeds United as Daniel Farke chases a reunion with midfielder Kenny McLean.

That is according to a report from Sky Sports, who claim that Leeds have offered £4million to sign McLean.Norwich have refused that offer and the ball is now back in Leeds’ court as they weigh up whether or not to make a new offer.

The Canaries surely have no plans to sell McLean right now given that he has played every minute in their four Championship games this season.

McLean has captained the side in all four games too, playing a key role under David Wagner.

McLean is under contract for another two years as well, so Norwich will be in no mood to sell this close to the deadline.

Leeds will be hoping that McLean can be tempted by the potential of a reunion with his former Norwich boss Daniel Farke but the Canaries will surely be reluctant to strengthen a potential promotion rival.

Leeds are chasing a number of signings this week but it feels like midfielders are of real importance. The offer has gone in for McLean but the Scotland international is far from the only target for Leeds.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that Leeds are in the final stages of a deal to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Leeds have been linked with Kamara throughout the summer and finally seem to be closing in on the Finland international.

Then there is Fortuna Dusseldorf midfielder Ao Tanaka.

German newspaper Bild claim that Leeds have submitted an offer to sign Tanaka and the Japanese international could now make his move to Elland Road.

Stuttgart had been chasing Tanaka but Leeds are now alone in the race for his signature.

Leeds certainly need new midfielders this summer and we could see the Whites push for Kamara, Tanaka and McLean this week as the deadline approaches quickly.
