Exclusive: Good news for Everton fans as reports confirm Blues are now in advanced talks to sign prolific Leeds striker as Sean Dyche looks to finally solve goalscoring problem at Goodison Park

Everton are in advanced talks to sign Leeds United striker Rodrigo this summer, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

The Spanish international looks set to call time on his three-year stint at Elland Road, following their relegation to the Championship.

According to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, the Whites are not expected to make things difficult if the Spaniard wants to leave the club after his father and agent met the top brass at Elland Road to discuss his future.

And it appears as though the Spaniard could well be remaining in the English top flight next season.

Tuttomercatoweb report [24 June] that Everton are working on the purchase of the former Valencia star and contacts are already at an advanced stage with the Merseysiders hoping to conclude the deal as early as next week.

It certainly seems as if Everton really are taking advantage of Leeds United’s relegation plight by targeting a number of their most prized assets and Rodrigo’s name is the latest to be linked with a Goodison Park move.

Talks have reportedly been held between the Toffees and Leeds [Football Transfers, 18 June] over their star forwards Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison, either of whom would be solid additions given their Premier League experience.

However, with Everton desperate for a striker capable of scoring goals consistently, Rodrigo certainly represents a very sensible addition to Dyche’s cause at Goodison Park.

The Spaniard was indeed the Whites’ most influential commodity last team, registering 13 Premier League goals despite the club failing to secure their Premier League future.

Rodrigo’s aggression, front-foot approach and desire to lead from the front are just what the Everton fans need after having to watch Dominic Calvert-Lewin endure a frustrating stop-start season.

However, Rodrigo has endured some injury issues of his own and should the striker seal a move to Everton, he shouldn’t be Dyche’s only striker addition this summer.
