EXCLUSIVE: Fabrizio Romano confirms Wolves have made contact with Liverpool over the signing of versatile Portuguese attacker on loan this January as Gary O’Neil eyes attacking reinforcement at Molineux
Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
That is according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has noted Liverpool’s stance on a potential deal.
Well, according to Fabrizio Romano on X, Wolverhampton Wanderers want to sign Fabio Carvalho from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The Italian journalist has claimed that Wolves have already been in contact with Liverpool and have asked about signing Carvalho on a loan deal until the end of the season.
???????????? Understand Wolves have asked for Fábio Carvalho on loan until the end of the season.
Top 6 Championship clubs have also asked for loan, waiting for Liverpool and player’s camp to decide for best option.#LFC want guaranteed game time for Fábio.
Romano has added that the top six clubs in the Championship are also keen on the winger and have made contact with Liverpool. Fulham have also been linked.
Liverpool are willing to send the £5 million (The Guardian) out on loan again this season, but the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners want “guaranteed” playing time for him.
The 21-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, joined RB Leipzig on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2023.
However, Liverpool have recalled him now. Carvalho was struggling for playing time at Leipzig. The Portugal Under-21 international winger made one start and eight substitute appearances in the Bundesliga, one start and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League and one substitute appearance in DFB-Pokal.
In my opinion, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers on a loan deal in January would be a good move for Fabio Carvalho.
Wolves are a big and established club in the Premier League who are doing well at the moment. Gary O’Neil’s side were expected to fight for survival in the English top flight this season, but they are now level on points with Chelsea and only three points behind Manchester United.
Now, of course, no team can guarantee Carvalho playing time. They should not really. After all, the youngster has to impress in training and then take the chances he gets in matches.
But, if Wolves have made contact with Liverpool, then it suggests that O’Neil thinks that Carvalho could become a key player for his team.
