EXCLUSIVE: Fabrizio Romano confirms Nottingham Forest are now in talks with Ex-Tottenham manager to replace Steve Cooper at club as Evangelos Marinakis now seriously considering move to sack Welsh coach
Nottingham Forest have made contact with Nuno Espirito Santo to become the new head coach of the club. The Reds are weighing up whether or not to sack Steve Cooper in the coming days according to renowed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Forest have slipped to 17th in the Premier League on the back of four defeats in their last five games. The Reds are now only five points above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Espirito Santo is currently out of work. He has previously managed Wolves, Tottenham and Al-Ittihad, with Evangelos Marinakis now assessing all of his options.
This news has come courtesy of Fabrizio Romano who has tonight made these claims. The manager is reportedly in talks with Forest as they start to weigh up their options.
Espirito Santo has managed Wolves to promotion to the Premier League and helped to keep them in the division after they romped to the second-tier title.
The Portuguese boss was then handed the Tottenham job in 2021. That proved a disaster though and he left after winning eight and drawing seven of his 17 games in charge.
Forest now considering Cooper future
It was claimed last week that nothing was imminent from a Forest perspective regarding Cooper. Now, it would appear that enough is enough in the eyes of Marinkis and a change could now happen.
Espirito Santo would be a strange choice it has to be said. To go from Oliver Glasner or Julen Lopetegui to a manager who has been overseeing a team in Saudi Arabia is quite a downgrade.
Espirito Santo is the name being mentioned at the moment, although there is a key line in the Romano claim. He claims that talks are ongoing in case Forest decide to make a change and that perhaps suggests Cooper will be afforded a bit more time.
