EXCLUSIVE: Burnley interested in permanent signing of Chelsea star David Fofana but will only make move on one condition
Burnley could be looking to sign Chelsea striker Detro Fofana on a permanent basis next summer according to reports as the club are said to be happy and immensely impressed by his contribution since joining on loan.
Fofana has starred for Vincent Kompany’s side since joining the Lancashire side on loan in January. The Ivorian has scored 4 goals in 10 games and has added a bit of edge to Burnley’s attack.
The Clarets are now reportedly considering a permanent move for the player next summer although that would depend on the condition that they can fight off relegation and remain in the Premier League next season.
That would have seemed like a herculian task for Vincent Kompany’s team weeks ago but a recent upturn in form coupled with Nottingham Forest’s Four point deduction and Everton’s looming second deduction due to PSR breach, there is a glimmer of hope that they could still salvage their season with Nine games left to play.
Fofana is likely to be sold by Chelsea in the summer with the 21 year old seemingly not in the future plans at Stamford Bridge despite only joining the club in January 2023.
The attacker’s displays for Burnley means he is likely to be on the radar of a host of European clubs although an ideal move for the player would be to remain at the Turf Moor stadium where he would be guaranteed game-time.
A permanent signing will however largely depend on if the Clarets can manage to stay in the Premier League. Fofana is currently valued at between £15m – £20m by Chelsea although Burnley would be hoping to pay much lesser for the player.
