Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca will be allowed to leave Elland Road on loan again if the Whites aren’t successful in the upcoming playoffs, before a bargain 2025 fee will be pursued.

Leeds could be three games away from returning to the Premier League, but fans are right not to be overly optimistic on their chances of succeeding in the playoffs.

It’s a route to promotion that Leeds have never managed, and with that, it could open a can of worms with regards to players currently out on loan.

As confirmed by the player himself, Marc Roca has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave on loan again if Leeds aren’t promoted to the Premier League this season. But will return to the club if the club are able to secure promotion back to the top flight with the options of possibly reintegrated back into the team or a permanent sale.

With that, Mundo Deportivo offer further insight into the matter, sharing that Betis would still like to sign him permanently at some point.

However, if Leeds fail to go up, they are looking at a reduced price tag in the summer of 2025, knowing that Roca will only have one year left on his contract from that point.

Should Leeds be in the Premier League next season, that loan clause is no longer valid, which throws up more uncertainty for Roca.

The issue is that Leeds’ fairly modest asking price mentioned in the report is €10million (£8.6million), which Betis currently think is too much.

Having impressed in midfield and centre-back this season, it wouldn’t be too surprising if another La Liga outfit took a punt on him. You have to worry if Roca has this loan release clause in his contract if we don’t go up, because it would suggest that he isn’t the only one.

It would be bizarre for Leeds to have these clauses included across the board, but equally strange if we only had it included for one of the players and no one else.

If we do get promoted, I can see him being sold quite easily, even if Betis are claiming they couldn’t afford £8.6million.
