Aston Villa’s busy summer window continued this week with the signing of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. The 22-year-old has become the eighth signing of the summer for Aston Villa as they gear up for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
Villa have not been scared to reach into their pockets this summer with nearly £150million spent on signings already.
Unai Emery’s side upset the odds to finish fourth in the Premier League last season but with the extra challenge of midweek European games next season they have not wasted a second celebrating.
Onana joined up with Villa’s first team this week to begin his pre-season preparations and his new squad number has just been leaked.
After spending the summer with Belgium competing at Euro 2024, Amadou Onana is already back in training after sealing his move to Villa Park. Villa are set to tour the United States this summer and Onana has signed just in time to join his new teammates on the flight over.
He had his first training session with Villa this week and the club documented his first day on YouTube. The video, posted to their official club channel, also snapped Onana wearing the number 24 on his training kit.
Just three seconds into the clip, Onana can be seen in the club’s gym with his new training kit and number.
Amadou Onana number suggests sale of £40m star
Onana taking Jhon Duran‘s number 24 shirt suggests the striker’s future at Aston Villa is in doubt.
HITC revealed last week that Duran wants to leave Villa this summer with West Ham and Chelsea both showing an interest in him.
It is understood that West Ham are pushing for his signature as Tim Steidten looks to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s squad. Villa set an asking price of £40million for the 20-year-old forward, but there is a belief that they could consider bids lower than their initial price tag.
All eyes will be on whether Duran is included in Emery’s travelling squad for the upcoming tour of the United States.
