Exclusive: 49ers now set for crunch Leeds decision as club weigh up move to appoint Steven Gerrard or Graham Potter this summer with Whites keen to bounce back to PL next season

Leeds United are set for a major decision to appoint Steven Gerrard or Graham Potter this summer according to reports with the Whites desperate to bounce back to the EPL next season.

The former Chelsea boss’s reputation is in tatters after a disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge, and despite managing one of the biggest clubs in England earlier this year, he may now be set to step down to the Championship as Leeds look to approach him for the vacant managerial position.

It may seem rather strange for a former Chelsea boss to drop down to the second-tier.

It wasn’t too long ago that the 47-year-old was being branded as an ‘excellent’ manager, and you have to imagine that he’d back himself to get Leeds promoted if given the chance to take over at Elland Road.

Potter has also received interest from Nice and Crystal Palace, but given that Leeds are ready to offer the Englishman a huge salary to come in, perhaps a move to Yorkshire could be on the cards.

The Whites are also still keeping their options open and are also looking at a move for Steven Gerrard who is reportedly favourite to take the reigns at the King Power stadium.

Gerrard has been out of job since his sacking at Aston Villa last year and is keen to get back into management ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

The Englishman is reportedly on the radar of Leicester City too but Leeds are quite confident they maybe able to convince the former midfield general who impressed as head coach of Rangers to take up the mammoth challenge of returning the Yorkshire side back to the English Premier League next season.

The Former Liverpool man is odds on favourite to become the next Leeds boss although fans have expressed their doubts on his managerial abilities given his torrid time at Aston Villa last year.
