“Embarrassing, Going down, We’ve lost too many games already, I hope I don’t see that again” – Gary Lineker and Dean Smith gives Leicester relegation verdict after 5-3 loss to Fulham

Gary Lineker has shared his reaction as Leicester City were beaten 5-3 away at Fulham.

Leeds need a minor miracle if they want to stay up in the Premier League this season, as they have three games left against tough opponents to keep their place outside the bottom three.

Before meeting Newcastle United next week, Leeds need this bank holiday run of fixtures to go their way, with Leicester City, Everton, and Nottingham Forest all in action.

Fulham hosted Dean Smith’s Leicester, and an eight-goal match saw the hosts run out 5-3 winners.

Such a number of goals conceded is unlikely to do the Foxes a great deal for their confidence ahead of three challenging games remaining.

Braces for Willian and Tom Cairney, alongside Carlos Vinicius’ goal saw Fulham comfortable, with Harvey Barnes scoring twice and James Maddison too ensuring the defeat wasn’t a complete battering.

What has Lineker said?
Spirits are incredibly low amongst the sides in the bottom three, and Gary Lineker isn’t happy as a Leicester fan.

He thinks their fate is sealed, as he reacted to the match on Twitter:

Dean Smith was also unhappy with his players in his post game interview

“The game was lost in the first half,” Smith said in his post-match press conference. “The performance in the first half was nowhere near what it has been and what the players can produce.

“I’m disappointed because I didn’t see that coming. We’ve had a good week in training with a good attitude and good application and good quality.

“I expected a far better performance and a far better start than we got. Unfortunately at this level, if you give the kind of goals away that we gave away, it’s going to be an uphill battle.”

“Unfortunately I have to tell them that people keep saying they’re good players and they’re a good team, but we’ve lost too many games already this season. So they have to be aware of the facts and they have to perform better than they did today.”

“I was certainly very worried in that first half today,” Smith said. “We got better in the second half. That’s the first time I’ve seen it with these players. I hope I don’t see that again. I’m sure I won’t.
