“Don’t sell, £60m is not enough, needs to be £100m”- Nottingham Forest fans send message to club as Reds set £60m price tag on Johnson after receiving latest approach from Aston Villa

Johnson has been the subject of a bid from Brentford and they retain an interest, with Aston Villa also said to be keen on the Wales international after his strong first Premier League season

A price-tag of £60m for Brennan Johnson is not high enough for Nottingham Forest supporters, who would be reluctant to wave goodbye to the homegrown forward at any price.

A £30m offer from Brentford has already been rejected for the Wales international, but the Bees and Aston Villa are said to retain an interest. However, it would require a significant fee to convince Forest to part with Johnson, with the Sun reporting that a £60m valuation must be met.

That figure is still not high enough for Reds fans though. They either want to see it get closer to £100m, making comparisons to the supposed £90m price-tag that Fulham have put on midfielder Joao Palhinha, or not sell at all, and instead build around Johnson as the club look to push up the table this coming season.

Johnson is under contract until 2026 at the City Ground after signing a new deal last year, the 22-year-old contributing eight goals and three assists in 38 Premier League appearances last season. Here’s what Forest fans on our Facebook page had to say.

Nottingham Forest receive major transfer boost as surprise exit questioned
John Harper: “Reading this morning that some Prem clubs are after Palinha from Fulham. No messing about, they straightaway slapped a £90 million price on him. Forest have all of a sudden put a £60 million price on Johnson. Still not enough compared in my opinion!”

Christophe Frost: “BJ isn’t going anywhere, Gordon isn’t that good and he’s worth £55m.”

Gary Tucker: “Do we really need to sell? We need to build around him.”

Jose Alexander: “BJ is not leaving Forest. He will have more than 15 goals in the coming season. We are excited to succeed at the top level.”

Michael Brown: “Why have they put a value on him? We shouldn’t sell him, just say he’s not for sale.”

Heather Turner: “He’ll be worth twice that in a couple of years.”

Adrian Nicholas: “Worth at least £85 million before we start talking!”

Stuart Hart: “To Brentford? Punching above their weight. Forest on the rise. Far better for him if he stays.”

Mark Hudson: “Keep him, he’s only gonna get better. Another good season and he will be worth £90m.”

Toby Brittain: “£60m is not enough. Needs to be £100m. Also why would we break up a good front four.”
