Done Deal: Fabrizio Romano confirms Newcastle have completed the €70million of Sandro Tonali as player passes medical, official announcement next
Sandro Tonali has passed his Newcastle United medical ahead of his €70million plus add-ons move to Newcastle United.
Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth and head of recruitment Steve Nickson were in Milan on Thursday to hold face-to-face talks with Milan and Tonali’s representatives.
A meeting was held at the Palazzo Parigi Hotel and a full agreement was reached over the structure of the deal.
Nickson then joined Tonali’s agents Giuseppe Riso and Marianna Mecacci on a flight to Romania this morning to conduct the first part of the 23-year-old medical.
Tonali is currently based in Cluj-Napoca with Italy under-21s competing at the European Championships. The midfielder claimed an assist in his side’s Group D opener against France yesterday, which they narrowly lost 2-1.
Confirmation has arrived from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that Tonali has passed his medical tests.
Tonali has agreed personal terms on a six-year contract worth £6.8m plus bonuses per season ahead of being unveiled as Newcastle’s first summer signing.
