DEADLINE DAY: Nottingham Forest confirm triple deadline day signings of top-class midfielder, striker and defender at City Ground stadium
Nottingham Forest have completed the double signing of midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, striker Divock Origi and Andrew Omobamidele on deadline day.
Sangaré has officially completed his move to the City Ground from PSV Eindhoven who will receive €35m.
With Brennan Johnson completing a £45m move from Forest to Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds have been able to splash out on Sangaré. The defensive midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Forest have been interested in the 25year old all summer and after multiple bids were rejected, they’ve finally landed their top target. Sangaré has been a crucial player for PSV ever since he signed from Toulouse in 2020.
The player had four years remaining on his contract and was a fan favourite at the Philips Stadion. Leaving PSV was clearly a tough decision to make for the Sangaré, but now he’s a Premier League player.
Striker Divock Origi also completed a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest.
The Reds confirmed the Belgian has joined on a season-long loan from AC Milan.
Origi, who is said to have also been the subject of interest from Burnley and Fulham, has Premier League experience from his time at Liverpool. He spent eight years at Anfield – in a spell which included a couple of loans – before moving to Italy on a free in 2022.
During his time on Merseyside, the 28-year-old won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Football League Cup. He scored 41 goals in 175 appearances for the club.
Regular game time has been hard to come by for Milan, however. Origi has netted twice in 36 run-outs, with 26 of his appearances coming from off the bench.
Forest were keen to bolster their attacking resources before the window closed, particularly with Brennan Johnson heading to Tottenham Hotspur. Cooper wanted to finish the window with sufficient strength in depth across the pitch as the team aim to push on in the Premier League this term.
Forest also completed the signing of Norwich City defender Andrew Omobamidele in a shock last minute deal.
The 21-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper for the Reds, in a deal understood to be worth an initial £11 million. He takes the club’s total number of signings to 13 for the summer.
The centre-back has six full caps for the Republic of Ireland. He has featured in two Championship games so far this season, but did come off the bench for both of those appearances.
Omobamidele has been linked with a move away from Norwich throughout the summer. Forest, meanwhile, were keen to finish the window with sufficient strength in depth in all areas as they aim to kick on in the Premier League.
